A colleague of mine (actually my wife :)) did a translation for a German agency called “tsd Technik Sprachendienst GmbH“. As the deadline for this project was pretty tight, the agency split the project between two translators. My wife submitted her part in time, the agency confirmed receipt. When the payment date came, the agency wrote a message saying that “the end client is not happy with the translation” and they wouldn’t pay the PO amount in full. No explanations whatsoever! So the agency ended up with paying only 50% of the invoice amount, now they do not reply to any e-mails. I decided to publish this malpractice – let it be a warning for my colleagues!
P.S. I will post updates if there is any development…
>”the end client is not happy with the translation” + No explanations whatsoever!
Looks like a very ‘smart’ way of dodging your responsibility.
Thanks for posting it!
Its a pity that such agencies can get away with just paying half or nothing. Did you manage to reach a settlement? In Germany, contractual laws are very strict, not sure if you took a legal action against the agency.
Strange that this agency its name was also involved last year (2014) in a scammer called Marina Cicerin who defrauded many translators of a lot of money. When I contacted them they pretended they would pursue action against this scammer but they never followed up on that. Now I wonder if the whole story that their name was misuses is false.
